This spring I'm offering a workshop in botanical illustration with watercolors on May 7 & 8 (Mothers' Day weekend). Depending on interest, the workshop might be oriented towards more rudimentary or more in-depth instruction. It will be at my rural home, about 10 miles southwest of Gainesville, Florida. We will begin with a short walk outside demonstrating some of the attributes of plants that are important to illustrate, choosing specimens and other elements of botanical illustration and observation. Previous students have commented that this instruction has dramatically enhanced their enjoyment of nature. Though we'll discuss the conventions of traditional botanical illustration, it's not necessary that your paintings look like one. Drawing will be indoors and attendance is limited to a minimum of 4 and a maximum of 6 people each.
